Roof Construction Plans

When framing a flat roof you will need to create a slight incline.

Use construction nails 6 in 15 cm apart to secure the plywood around the outer perimeter and along each support. Flat roofs are always built at a slight incline at least 1 8 inch per foot. Put roof sheathing on top of your roof. Gable a gable roof has a ridge at the center and slopes in two directions.

The most commonly used types of pitched roof construction are the gable the hip the intersecting and the shed or lean to. This will help you create a flat roof framing plan.

Use 1 2 in 1 3 cm plywood to cover the entire surface of your roof. A roof is much more than just the decorative top of a building. Construction plans blueprints are scaled down representations of the final project at a ratio of the actual size. When construction plans are scaled it helps to put the part into a print size drawing that is easily read by the crew.

An example of each is shown in figure 2 1. For example 1 8 1 one eighth inch equals one foot. Another common design in the northeast is the saltbox which is a gable roof with one longer side.
