Painting Carpet With Chalk Paint

I have seen some postw where stenciling has been very successful but i am looking to paint he whole carpet.

I would really appreciate any feedback on this idea as i don t want to buy a whole new carpet for a rental property. Working with a darker color canvas means you might need a base for your painting or the paint you use should be thicker otherwise it might not be visible enough. Draw a border with fabric chalk and a yard stick on the carpet outlining the perimeter of the pattern. Apply the paint with a brush and work the paint between and into the fibers as much as you can.
