The key is to not glob on a ton of paint on the brush. Choose a clear day and for best results stay out of the wind lest dirt and leaves blow onto the fresh paint. If you re using chalk mineral or milk paint it needs to be self sealing. Prep your wicker furniture by brushing off any loose paint chips dirt or debris with a soft medium bristle brush depending on the age condition of the wicker.
